Youth Awards
Helping Hands Award
The Missouri FCCLA Helping Hands Award recognizes the middle school and high school member that completes the most community service hours during the current school year.
- Hours must be tracked using the provided Community Service Tracking log, and each event must be signed and approved by a staff member. The tracking log will be submitted using the application link provided.
- The middle school and high school student with the most community service hours from July 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025 will be recognized on stage during the Business & Recognition Session at State Leadership Conference.
Middle School Leaders to Watch
The Missouri FCCLA Leaders to Watch State Program was developed by the State Executive Council to recognize Middle School members for outstanding leadership in their school, community and chapter.
- Each school may submit a maximum of three nominations. Members and advisers may nominate deserving recipients from their chapters. Members may also nominate themselves for the award.
- The application should include a photo of the nominee related to FCCLA.
- An exhibit of all award nominees will be on display at the Missouri FCCLA State Leadership Conference. Voting will be done onsite at the conference.
- The Middle School Leaders to Watch winner will be recognized on stage during the Closing General Session. They will also be recognized on Missouri FCCLA social media accounts.
- The winner will receive an official Red Jacket as their prize!
- Recipients must attend the entirety of SLC to qualify.
Show-Me State Degree
The Show-Me State Degree is awarded to Missouri FCCLA members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to the Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and made significant accomplishments in their leadership journey. The highest degree, the Missouri FCCLA Show-Me State Degree, is conferred upon an elite group of members at the State Leadership Conference.
The Show-Me State Degree award application confirms candidacy for the Show-Me State Degree. The portfolio and oral presentation will take place on Sunday of the annual State Leadership Conference, with a presentation time assigned and notified by March 1.
Note: The applicant will be required to earn a Gateway Chapter Degree prior to earning the Show-Me State Degree. Review the guidelines and application form below.
Chapter & Membership Awards
Membership Increase Awards
Missouri’s annual membership campaign recognizes chapters that increase their membership by various increments and/or percentages. All chapters who reach do so are recognized at the annual State Leadership Conference. The affiliation deadline to receive the award is February 1 of each year.
- Show-Me 5! recognizes chapters that increase their membership by 5 members over the previous school year.
- Give Me 10! recognizes chapters that increase their membership by 10 members over the previous school year.
- Shoot for 30! recognizes chapters that increase their membership by 30% over the previous school year. These chapters will receive a FCCLA swag bag stuffed with swag for all members attending SLC.
- Double Down! recognizes chapters that double their member over the previous school year. These chapters will receive a discount on State Leadership Conference registration. *Discount to be determined annually
Star Chapter Awards
The Missouri Star Chapter Award program seeks to give recognition to those chapters whose membership represents a significant percentage of the entire Family and Consumer Sciences education program enrollment. Membership includes all fully-affiliated FCCLA members.
- Star Chapters affiliate 50-74% of their school’s FCS enrollment population.
- Shooting Star Chapters affiliate 75-99% of their school’s FCS enrollment population.
- Super Star Chapters affiliation 100% or more of their school’s FCS enrollment population.
To determine if a chapter is eligible for this recognition, divide the chapter’s membership total by the FCS program’s total enrollment to find the percentage of the FCS enrollment population that are affiliated FCCLA members.
Adviser Awards & Recognition
Adviser of the Year*
The Adviser of the Year Award recognizes an adviser that has dedicated a number of years to the organization and inspires members to identify and serve their community, support their goals, and builds a strong program while making outstanding contributions to FCCLA at all levels. When making a nomination, individuals should consider the following qualities in advisers:
- Current, affiliated chapter adviser for the 2024-2025 school year with at least five years of service as an FCCLA chapter adviser;
- Adviser awards and honors;
- Adviser professional development attended, completed, and/or lead;
- FCCLA integration; and
- Local, regional, state and national contributions.
Nominations may be submitted by: Adviser award candidate or anyone wanting an affiliated adviser to be considered, including but not limited to school administrators, teacher educators, Family and Consumer Science supervisors, state or regional advisers, professional colleagues, industry professionals, alumni, parents of current or past students, and FCCLA members. Two recommendations are required, which must provide detailed insights into how the nominee has made significant contributions to the growth and success of FCCLA.
Adviser Mentor*
The Adviser Mentor Award recognizes the skills of advisers who help orient and train new advisers, and who have been successful in:
- Achieving Master Adviser recognition;
- Devoting two years to new adviser assistance;
- Assuming adult leadership roles in FCCLA;
- Conducting adviser workshops;
- Attending training workshops; and
- Using national and state FCCLA resources.
Nominations may be submitted by: Adviser award candidate, teacher educator, location FCS supervisor, state adviser, professional colleague, or FCCLA member. Three recommendations are required: One each from an FCCLA member, a school administrator, and a person of the candidate’s choice.
*This award is eligible for national recognition.
Master Adviser*
The Master Adviser Award recognizes advisers who have been successful in:
- Advising an affiliated chapter for a minimum of three years;
- Promoting the organization;
- Operating an integrated chapter with a balanced program of work;
- Facilitating youth-centered activities; and
- Keeping abreast of new happenings within the organization.
Nominations may be submitted by: Adviser award candidate, teacher educator, location FCS supervisor, state adviser, professional colleague, or FCCLA member. Three recommendations are required: One each from an FCCLA member, a school administrator, and a person of the candidate’s choice.
*This award is eligible for national recognition.
New Adviser of the Year Award
The Adviser of the Year Award recognizes an adviser that has dedicated fewer than five years to the organization and inspires members to identify and serve their community, support their goals, and is working toward building a strong program while making outstanding contributions to FCCLA at all levels. When making a nomination, individuals should consider the following qualities in advisers:
- Current, affiliated chapter adviser for the 2024-2025 school year with at least five years of service as an FCCLA chapter adviser;
- Adviser awards and honors;
- Adviser professional development attended, completed, and/or lead;
- FCCLA integration; and
- Local, regional, state and national contributions.
Nominations may be submitted by: Adviser award candidate or anyone wanting an affiliated adviser to be considered, including but not limited to school administrators, teacher educators, Family and Consumer Science supervisors, state or regional advisers, professional colleagues, industry professionals, alumni, parents of current or past students, and FCCLA members. Spirit of Advising Award*
The Spirit of Advising Award recognizes chapter advisers who are constantly faithful, often quietly working behind the scenes to ensure the success of their students. When making a nomination, individuals should consider the following qualities in advisers:
- Believes in the mission of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America
- Supports and works with students to ensure student success
- Provides learning experiences
- Encourages positive character development
- Dedicates time and energy to nurturing student leaders
- Serves as a current FCCLA adviser
Nominations for state recognition may be submitted by: Teacher educator, location FCS supervisor, state adviser, professional colleague, or FCCLA member. The adviser award candidate may not self-nominate. An award committee will choose one applicant to receive the award and the winner will be nominated for the national award by the state association.
*The Missouri winner of this award will be nominated for the national award.
Years of Service Recognition and Retiring Teachers Recognition
Advisers who have served FCCLA will be recognized at the annual State Leadership Conference for their years of service to a full-affiliated FCCLA chapter at five-year increments. Advisers retiring at the end of the current school year will also be recognized at State Leadership Conference.
Other Adult Awards & Recognition
Distinguished Service Award*
The Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding contributions and continuing service by individuals whose primary responsibilities are directly related to the organization’s programs. Nominees will be recognized for their service to Family, Career and Community Leaders of America in one or more of the areas listed below. Nominees will be evaluated on the following:
- Accomplishments and demonstrated leadership in chosen field of endeavor;
- Community involvement and leadership roles assumed;
- Continued service and involvement with FCCLA on local, state, and national levels; and
- National Alumni & Associates membership status verification.
Examples of those eligible for the Distinguished Service Award include local and state advisers, city and state supervisors of FCS education, and teacher educators. State-level nominations may be submitted by: A current State Executive Council member or adviser, an affiliated FCCLA chapter, or national Alumni & Associates member. The award candidate may not self-nominate. Two letters of recommendation are required. An award committee will choose one applicant to receive the award and the winner will be nominated for the national award by the state association.
*The Missouri winner of this award will be nominated for the national award.
Honorary Membership Award*
The Honorary Membership Award recognizes persons whose professional responsibilities are not directly related to the organization, but who have made outstanding contributions and provide continuing service to the national organization. Nominees will be recognized for their service to Family, Career and Community Leaders of America in one or more of the areas listed below. Evaluation will be based on the following:
- Outstanding and continuing services that contribute to the achievement of FCCLA mission and purposes
- An effective public relations effort that promotes FCCLA nationally
- Assistance in developing or carrying out FCCLA projects nationally
- Leadership positions held within the organization
Nominations may be submitted by any FCCLA chapter or region, current State Executive Council member, an affiliated FCCLA chapter member, or a national Alumni & Associates member. Nominees may be a past or current chapter or state adviser, part of state administration, local supervisors of FCS education, FCS teacher educators, FCS education staff of the US Department of Education. All nominees must be current members of National FCCLA Alumni & Associates. Two letters of recommendation are required. An award committee will choose one applicant to receive the award and the winner will be nominated for the national award by the state association.

Outstanding School Administrator Award*
Exceptional school administrators encourage chapters and help students take advantage of the opportunities offered. The Outstanding School Administrator Award recognizes and honors local administrators who give outstanding support to the organization on the local, state and national levels. The winning local administrator will be recognized for their service to Family, Career and Community Leaders of America in one or more of the areas listed below. Evaluation will be based on the following:
- Supports and encourages FCCLA-sponsored activities and projects
- Supports and encourages FCCLA advisers
- Supports and encourages individual students
- Significantly influences and encourages membership in FCCLA
- Promotes FCCLA in the community
- Supports Career and Technical Education
Nominations may be submitted by an FCCLA chapter adviser or FCCLA member. The award candidate may not self-nominate. Three letters of recommendation are required: One each from the local FCCLA adviser, a local FCCLA member, and a community member or parent. An award committee will choose one applicant to receive the award and the winner will be nominated for the national award by the state association.
