Who is eligible to be a member of FCCLA?

How do I start an FCCLA chapter?
- Contact the state adviser at [email protected] or (573) 522-6543 to verify that your school has never had an affiliated chapter previously.
- Review the New Adviser Handbook and the New Chapter Checklist for basic guidelines on establishing a chapter and recruiting members.
- Request a New Adviser Kit from National FCCLA by emailing [email protected].
- Establish and affiliate your chapter!
Affiliating Your Chapter
Chapter affiliation is an important step in joining FCCLA. Chapters must affiliate by the affiliation deadlines each year to receive access to the resources in the FCCLA portal.
- Use the Step-by-Step Affiliation Instructions to affiliate your chapter (affiliation must be completed every school year).
- Affiliate online using the FCCLA portal. New chapter advisers: Use the “First Time Chapter Affiliation” button to request a new chapter in the affiliation system. Once the state adviser approves your request, you will receive login credentials to affiliate your students.
- Before adding members to your chapter on the affiliation portal, make the process easier by collecting each member’s affiliation information using the Member Affiliation Info Form. You will have two options for adding students into the FCCLA portal – individual member entry or bulk CSV upload. For individual member entry, you will type all required information directly into the portal for each member. For CSV upload, you will input all information directly into the CSV spreadsheet provided and drag and drop it into the portal.
Upon affiliation, students will receive a welcome email providing a link to the student portal and notifying them of their membership ID and temporary password. Advisers will be able to resend the welcome email through the FCCLA portal as needed. Members will use the student portal to:
- Apply for program awards as an individual or team.
- Apply for scholarships.
- Complete the online project summary form.
- View and print their “My Journey” FCCLA transcript.
- Print their membership card.
- Transfer to a new chapter if their affiliation has not already been submitted.
- Gradate themselves to Alumni & Associates to continue their FCCLA involvement.
- Check their affiliation status.
