Hey Missouri FCCLA! As we look forward into the upcoming year, there is a lot going on, and a lot to prepare for! Here are some tips from me, Mallory Daniels, to start thinking about as the 2024-2025 school year rolls around!
One of the best tips I can give you is to set SMART goals for the next year, and stay on top of them! (This can even be turned into a STAR event! ;)) Setting goals can help in all kinds of ways. They can help push you farther, give you a sense of direction, and help you get organized! Some goals for the future can be things like engaging more and being more involved in your chapter, or trying to help grow your chapter! There are so many things you can do to get started, you just need to take that first step!
Furthermore, start coming up with themes and ideas for your chapter! Come up with cool and unique ways to get students involved and interested! Some ideas can include a back-to-school social, lock-in, and so much more! Have little things like a “member of the month” to keep people involved and striving for the title. Put locker tags on lockers to recognize your members! There are so many cool ways to recruit and retain!
One thing to prepare for looking into the next year is STAR events. We all know that when the next year rolls around, it seems like STAR events come out of nowhere. My tip to you is to start thinking about it, or taking action, early. The earlier you start, the less work you will have to worry about when January comes around! You can just start by brainstorming ideas, and figuring out what kinds of events you are interested in. The options are endless!
As Nationals roll around, be thinking about what kind of events you want to attend! There are so many things to choose from! Keep in mind things such as workshops, the FCCLA showcase, the explo and so much more! Don’t forget to download Whova to stay in touch, meet new people who will also be attending nationals, and get access to schedules and other events!
