Hello Missouri FCCLA, and maybe FCCLA members nationwide! Are you wondering how to grow your membership this upcoming school year? Well this is just the blog for you! My name is Aleigha Jackson and I am the Missouri State FCCLA Vice President of Membership, here to help your chapter grow its membership this year!
Identify Your Target Audience
Know who your club is for. Whether it’s students, professionals, or community members, knowing your audience helps you create relevant and appealing messages. Knowing who you are targeting makes getting a response more likely whether it’s sponsorship wise or just collaborative. Know what works best for you and your club whether that depends on your area or what will determine how successful you can be!
Promote Your Chapter
Utilize social media, local newspapers, community boards, and school bulletins to spread the word about your FCCLA chapter. Highlight the benefits of joining, upcoming events, and the sense of community members can expect. By promoting your chapter, you not only attract new members, but you also keep the interest of outstanding members. Promote your chapter where you can, you never know what you’ll find when and where you least expect it!
Host Open Events
Organize open houses, workshops, or fun activities that allow potential members to experience what FCCLA offers. Providing a taste of the organization’s atmosphere can entice individuals to join. You could start with small things like setting up a booth at your school’s open house and work up to bigger things, such as a dinner hosted for new and returning members. Making your members feel appreciated and welcome will encourage them to keep coming back and bringing new members with them!
Offer Incentives
Consider offering incentives like discounts, freebies, or exclusive access to certain events for new members. Incentives can motivate people to take that initial step and become part of your FCCLA. You could offer to cover a certain amount of money off of their dues if they sign up before a certain time, and that would encourage them to sign up faster because they would have to pay less!
Create a Welcoming Environment
Ensure that your chapter is inclusive and welcoming to all. Make an effort to introduce new members to existing ones, encourage participation, and create a sense of belonging. This helps members not feel so shy about joining the club and becoming an active member.
By implementing these strategies, you can effectively increase your chapter’s membership and create a vibrant and fun community. Fostering a sense of belonging and offering value to your members are key to sustaining and growing your local chapter over time!
Like always, you are more than welcome to contact me for more information and I would be happy to provide it!
