Balancing your life is essential for maintaining a happy and healthy one. Between school, work, sports, club activities, and family, there is always a lot going on in your life at once. Without balance, it can feel overwhelming and maybe like you can’t keep up, but as soon as you find your balance, that all goes out the window.
I hold many positions in and outside of school and maintain a job. Sometimes, it might feel like I have so much to do, but I have started to take steps to ensure that I not only don’t miss a date but can keep up with all of my responsibilities.
The first thing I like to do is keep all of my upcoming events in a planner. It helps me track where I am going, when I will be there, and what I will be doing. At first, I didn’t think it would be helpful, but juggling multiple club activities at once made me realize that a planner would be beneficial with a visual representation of what my month or week looks like. I also get dates for different events and activities ahead of time so that I will know if anything in my schedule conflicts with each other. FCCLA takes up a lot of my time, and I wouldn’t have it any other way, so I make sure to have my schedule for the whole year together so that I am able to be the best officer I can be.
For work, I make sure that I am not scheduled for more than three or four days a week because I usually need days off within the same week for different events. Luckily, I have a fantastic boss who works with my schedule and helps me to the best of her ability.
I also spend any free time I have with my friends and family. This year is especially crucial because it is my senior year, and next year, we will all be off to college, so I won’t be able to see them as often. Whether it’s going out to eat or just running errands around town, I love spending time with my friends when I can.
Balancing your life isn’t hard; you just need to know where to start. At first, I was overwhelmed and stressed, but once I found a system that worked for me and my schedule, I stuck with it, and it has been a breeze ever since. I hope this blog has helped you find a way to create a balance in your life, and as always, you can contact me if you need more information!
