Members and advisers of FCCLA are representing an outstanding student organization and should project the image of a leader. FCCLA’s seventh purpose is “to prepare for the multiple roles of men and women in today’s society”; therefore, an important part of the educational experience provided by FCCLA includes developing an understanding of appropriate behavior and dress for business meetings and functions. Demonstrating professional image, extending courtesies, and behaving in a professional manner will lead to a pleasant and rewarding meeting experience. Members, advisers, and guests should follow the dress code guidelines when attending Missouri FCCLA events.

Students and Other Youth Attendees
Official Missouri FCCLA conference dress code is as follows, as is required for all Missouri FCCLA events and competitive events, unless noted otherwise:
- FCCLA red blazer is strongly encouraged.
- Red, black or white polo or professional white or black shirt (long or short sleeves)
- Black bottoms (slacks, skirt, sheath dress – skirts and dresses must be knee-length)
- Neckwear options can include neckwear from the official emblematic supplier, black or red tie or bow tie, a single strand of pearls, red/black/white scarf, or no neckwear
- Shoes (black preferred)
Advisers/Chaperones/Guests
The following dress code is required for advisers, chaperones, parents, and guests (all adults and non-student members participating) for all Missouri FCCLA events, unless otherwise noted:
- Business professional
- Jeans, t-shirts, leggings, athletic wear (including shoes) are NOT appropriate
- Skirts and dresses should be knee-length, and shirt straps should be at least two finger-widths wide.
STAR Events Participants
STAR Events participants should follow the dress requirements found in individual event guidelines.
National FCCLA is requiring official dress for ALL STAR Events (with the exception of Baking & Pastry and Culinary Arts), but Missouri FCCLA will NOT reduce points on the Dress Code category of the Point Summary Page at State Leadership Conference this year as long as the participant is dressed in the official Missouri dress code as described above. Note that participants will have to follow National FCCLA official dress at National Leadership Conference, should they advance.
Fall Leadership Conference
The following dress code is acceptable for the Fall Leadership Conference ONLY. For this conference only, attendees may follow these guidelines:
- Blue or black jeans with no rips, holes, embellishments, distressing, and/or discoloration of any kind
- Day 1 – FCCLA shirt of any kind; Day 2 – Fall Leadership Conference t-shirt
- Shoes
If blue or black jeans are not appropriate, the official conference dress code must be followed.
If participating in Competitive Events at Fall Leadership Conference, the official Missouri FCCLA conference dress code is required.
Industry Immersion
Members and advisers participating in Industry Immersion events should wear FCCLA apparel with bottoms that have no rips, holes, or distressing of any kind. Athletic wear is appropriate, provided they are school-appropriate length and style.
